Equity Scholarships
Pattison Media is proud to support the career development of underrepresented groups in the media industry in Western Canada.

Pattison Media Ltd. is pleased to announce the awarding of four total scholarships valued at $2,500 each, to deserving students enrolled in journalism studies at institutions across Western Canada.
Pattison Media recognizes that there are significant challenges in both the recruiting of well-trained individuals for all aspects of the broadcasting industry, and there are significant challenges for individuals in the underrepresented groups including:
- Indigenous Persons
- Persons with disabilities
- Members of visible minorities
- Women
Pattison Media continued support of the Pattison Media Equity Scholarship allows for the four deserving recipients amongst a vast pool of qualified applicants and helps these young, future journalists press forward during challenging times.
The successful Pattison Media Equity Scholarship recipients are:

- Toni De Guzman Red River Polytech, Communications & Journalism
- Bailey Pilgrim-Paje BCIT, Broadcast & Online Journalism

About the recipients:
Adeline Aris

Adeline Aris is a Calgary-born journalist and recent SAIT Online and Print Journalism graduate. Passionate about ethical, community-focused reporting, she spotlights organizations creating inclusive spaces for underrepresented communities. Her time in Central America and work at Easter Seals Camp Horizon deepened her commitment to accessibility and representation in media.
Chelsea Asuzu

Chelsea Asuzu is a Calgary-based journalism student who has completed her second year in Journalism and Digital Media at Mount Royal University. Passionate about storytelling and community connection, she aims to build a career in media that informs audiences and amplifies diverse voices, with a long-term goal of working as a social media strategist.
Toni De Guzman

Toni De Guzman is a graduating Creative Communications joint degree student at Red River College Polytechnic and the University of Winnipeg.
A former editor-in-chief of her campus newspaper, she has reported for CBC Manitoba, the Winnipeg Free Press, and The Globe and Mail. Toni plans to stay in journalism for the long haul — with off the record chats and cold calls included.
Bailey Pilgrim-Paje

Bailey Pilgrim-Paje is a student journalist focused on telling Black and Indigenous stories. She is committed to amplifying voices that are often overlooked through meaningful, community-centered reporting that reflects lived experiences and builds understanding. Bailey aims to contribute to more inclusive, ethical journalism that empowers the communities she serves.
